VENSAP
VenSAP is designed to strengthen your understanding of all areas of venous disease and its management. A wide range of venous issues are covered and allows all professionals involved with the care of venous patients an opportunity to challenge themselves.
Objectives:
- Review the basic science background to clinical practice.
- Establish the rationale for clinical decisions
- Update knowledge on recent developments in diagnosis and management of venous disease.
- Explore challenging and controversial issues.
Target audience:
VenSAP is appropriate for any practitioner, resident or fellow involved in the medical and interventional management of patients with venous disease.
Applications:
VenSAP may be used as a general continuing medical education activity, as a self evaluation program, in preparation for examinations or as a vehicle to establish a personal knowledge inventory. The ‘performance appraisal’ may be used a stimulus for self-directed learning, personal learning projects or other focused CME activities.
The program is made up of 4 parts:
- 250 multiple choice questions
- detailed discussion of each question
- atlas of images
- references for each question
Upon completion and submission of responses, each participant will receive a performance appraisal which compares his/her results to established norms in a variety of categories.

- Venous insufficiency
- Venous thrombosis
- Varicose veins
- Venous anomalies
- Common and uncommon venous disorders
- Guidelines for management of all aspect of venous disease
- Diagnostic strategies in patients with venous disease
- Medications and their side effets relating to venous disease and thrombosis
- Conduct and complications of medical, endovenous and operative venous interventions
Accreditation:
VenSAP is accredited by the University of Toronto. The Continuing Education Office, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto designates this educational activity for a maximum 41 hours as an accredited self assessment program under section 3 of the Framework of Educational CPD Activity of the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
