VSEP III

The third edition of VSEP (VSEP III) was released in the summer of 2005. VSEP III features 400 questions, including case and image based questions. The VSEP III Atlas is also available for viewing online.

Building upon its well-established history, VSEP continues to increase in popularity among medical practitioners across North America.

VSEP started in 1996. The second edition was released in 2001.

VSEP objectives:

  • Review the basic science background to clinical practice.
  • Establish the rationale for clinical decisions.
  • Update knowledge on recent developments in diagnosis and management of vascular diseases.
  • Explore challenging and controversial issues.

Target Audience:

VSEP is appropriate for any practitioner, resident or fellow involved in the medical, interventional or surgical management of patients with vascular diseases. Applications: VSEP may be used as a general continuing medical education activity, as a self evaluation program, in preparation for examinations or as a vehicle to establish a personal knowledge inventory. The 'performance appraisal' may be used as a stimulus for self-directed learning, personal learning projects or other focused CME activities.

The program is made up of three parts:

  • 400 Multiple Choice Questions
  • Detailed discussion of each question
  • References for each question

Upon completion and submission of responses, each participant will receive a performance appraisal which compares his/her results to established norms in a variety of categories.

Accreditation:

VSEP is accredited by the University of Toronto.  The Continuing Education Office, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto designates this educational activity for a maximum of 60 category 1 credits toward the Physician's Recognition Award. VSEP is endorsed by the Canadian Society for Vascular Surgery. It qualifies as an accredited self assessment program under section 3 of the Framework of Educational CPD Options of the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. It is recognized by the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society. VSEP is recognized as a CME activity for eligibility for recertification by the Vascular Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery.
